about
This track was written as a collaboration between RP Oates and Erinn Peet-Lukes. Erinn was inspired to write the lyrics after re reading the book "Girls Like Us," which traces the lives of three prominent women in music: Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King.
lyrics
Swirl of smoke, and golden hair
unprepared and young
you're gonna be someone
City's cruel on eager eyes
each night you ride the train
work for change and come on home again
oh you're
carried by the music
in love with the sound
daddy brought you up
said no one could tie you down
carried by the music
rise up form the ground
if you're afraid of flying, don't look down
ramble on, and hold his hand
pretend he understands
in tangled arms, the city sleeps
There's a sound, you've always heard
louder than all his words
live the song, you're born to seek
you know you're
carried by the music
in love with the sound
daddy brought you up
said no one could tie you down
carried by the music
rise up form the ground
if you're afraid of flying, don't look down
